Atomic Math Maze with Extra Practice worksheet!

You can use this resource as two separate assignments, or print the practice on the front and the maze on the back. You will find a key for both after the first two pages.

The thing that I like the most about this assignment is that it gets students looking at this skill in many different ways. After this practice most students will have mastered identifying the atomic number, mass number, number of protons, neutrons, and electrons, and writing nuclear symbols.

Objectives:
♦ relate the mass, charge, and location of the three primary subatomic particles
♦ identify the atomic number, mass number, number of protons, neutrons, and electrons for elements using information on the periodic table
♦ represent a neutral atom using hyphen notation and the nuclear symbol
♦ represent ions and isotopes using a nuclear symbol

Prior Knowledge for Students:
Students should be very familiar with using the periodic table to identify number of protons, neutrons and electrons, atomic number, mass number, and average atomic mass. Students should be familiar with ions and isotopes.

Teacher Prep Time:
Just print and go!

Lesson Duration:
About 20-25 minutes—great for after test, quiz, of for early finishers—or for homework

Included in this product:
✓ Two pages—one extra practice page, and one Atomic Math Maze
✓ Complete Key for both pages

This lesson is appropriate for grades 9-12 chemistry students.
Just print and GO! You will have a resource that you’ll want to use for years!
