In this lesson students are introduced to ions and isotopes. By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
Determine if an ion is a cation or anion
Using the mass number, atomic number, and ion charge determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons
Represent the ion and isotope in both hyphen notation and using the nuclear symbol
Use the element’s periodic square to gain information needed to calculate the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons
