Types of Reactions, Predicting Products, Using a Solubility Chart, Using the Activity Series, & Writing formula equations from Word equations.

You will find these balancing chemical equations task cards to be a very versatile teaching tool. They can be used for practice with white boards, quizzes, partner or group work, or as an assignment. Once they are cut out and laminated they will be a resource that can be used for years to come.

The task cards included in this packet include sixteen cards (32 equations) representing the five major types of reactions. In this group of cards, there are problems for identifying the type of reaction, predicting products, identifying the precipitate product, determining if a single replacement reaction will run, writing formula equations from word equations, and problems using the activity series and solubility chart. Activity series and solubility chart are included along with an activity to practice using both.

Two sets of task cards are included, one with color, and one for black and white printing. Also, you will find a set of editable cards (with color or B&W) that can be used to add cards to the set, or replace a card that you don’t want.

***THESE TASK CARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOWING BUNDLES:***
Chemistry Task Cards for the Year- A Growing Bundle
Chemical Reactions Mega Unit Bundle

Objectives:
♦ Students will reinforce prior knowledge with practice equations for the 5 major types of chemical equations.
♦ Students will identify reaction types.
♦ Students will predict equation products given the reactants.
♦ Students will write chemical formula equations given a word equation.
♦ Use the activity series to determine whether a single replacement reaction will occur.
♦ Use a solubility chart to determine the aqueous and precipitate product of a double replacement reaction.

These task cards are editable! So, if you don’t teach the activity series, or using the solubility chart, you can replace those cards.

Prior Knowledge for Students:
Students should be very familiar with writing chemical formulas, balancing equations, types of reactions, and writing chemical equations from word problems.
