In this lesson students will identify chemistry lab safety equipment, know the location of the safety equipment within your lab, and describe the proper use and procedures for the equipment. The lesson also includes proper dress for lab, in case of accident, handling chemicals, using the lab burner, and what to do in case of a chemical spill or fire.
This lesson can be a little dull and boring for students that have been through it at the beginning of each science year previous. Keep them engaged with this interactive lesson, with student notes that make them think.
Included in this lesson is a Lab Safety Contract (editable), Interactive Student Notes, Exit Ticket, Lab Safety Quiz, and a Lab safety assignment for practice in class, or for homework. Your students will move forward through the year with lab safety being a priority during lab activities.
