In this inquiry lab, students are challenged with determining the procedures that will separate a four-substance mixture. Then, they will carry out their procedures. This is a great first of the year lab, and appropriate for middle school and high school students. The teacher notes include step-by-step instructions for setting up the lab, post-lab class discussion starters, and expected student outcome.
