Get ready for a wild and crazy game that your students will love—and reinforce learning as they have fun! Seriously, you may want to warn neighboring teachers that you will be a little loud on the day that you play this game with your students.

Your classroom will be transformed into a trading pit where all the action takes place. Groups will work together to collect all of the cards in one category first! Traders from each group will trade unwanted cards in the Pit until one group completes their category, and trading stops. But, watch out for “The Old Chemist”! Groups do not want to get stuck with the Old Chemist (think Old Maid), or they will lose points! It’s like a giant class sort going on at the same time with an Old Chemist thrown into the action!

Categories students will try to collect:
things associated with: synthesis reactions, decomposition reactions, single displacement reactions, double displacement reactions, or combustion reactions
