Give your students an exact, detailed format for writing the Chemistry Lab Report. They will appreciate it so much, and will refer to most of the documents in this lesson throughout the year. It is so important for students to have an understanding of exactly what your expectations are. Since we all have varying expectations, all files in this resource are editable. For the first-year teacher, or a teacher that is just starting to use lab reports, this resource is for you. Try it, and as years go on, edit it to fit your unique expectations.

I’ll admit that there have been many years that I have considered doing away with the lab notebook and full lab reports. But, when it comes right down to it, I just can’t give it up. In my opinion, it is so important for students, especially honors and advanced honors students to be able to evaluate data and results, and draw a conclusion using the data and results as evidence. This may be painful for most students in the beginning, but using this lesson, your students will have exact expectations and examples. I have had so many past students tell me that this one thing helped them so much in college.

It’s really the grading that is the difficult part. So, I have included the grading rubric that I use that has changed my life, and reduced time and stress.
This lesson includes an example lab report, student lab report rubric, and four example conclusions for student evaluation.

This lesson is included in the bundle: Introduction to Chemistry Lab Unit Bundle

The PowerPoint included in this resource is animated, and editable. You will be able to add slides or delete slides as needed. Note: Since the PowerPoint is editable, it may appear jumbled and overlapping in slide mode. Please don’t make any changes to the PowerPoint until you have viewed it in Slide Show Mode.
